PICK MODULES

The reason for using a Pick Module is based on more on Material Handling than Material Storage.  That is to say, the general idea is to reduce ‘picking time’ by ‘bring together’ a little of all products in your warehouse to one central point.  This consolidation will many times, allows for a reduction in the number of ‘pickers’ as well a ‘reduction in pick time’ required to fill orders.   

As with all operations, the pick rates for products will vary.  For this reason, several different methods of storage are used.  Pallet Flow, Carton Flow and Static Shelving are the three (3) most common components used in Pick Modules.  In order to conserve space, and if building design warrants, the Pick Module may consist of several pick level, so as to take advantage of available vertical storage space in your warehouse.
